This Microsoft
Outlook 2002 tutorial shows how to setup Outlook 2002 to retrieve email
from your LaniCom.NET accounts.
-
Open Microsoft
Outlook 2002
-
Select
"Tools" from the menu bar, then Select "E-mail Accounts".

-
The screen
below should appear. Under the "E-mail" heading, be sure that
"Add a new e-mail account" is selected by clicking on the
appropriate circle. Then click "Next >" button in the bottom
right hand of the window.

-
The next screen
will appear, asking you to choose the type of server. Select
"POP3" by clicking on the circle next to "POP3" and then click
the "Next >" button in the bottom right hand of the window.

-
On the next
screen, you will be asked for your e-mail settings:
Under "User Information"
Your Name: John Doe
E-mail Address:
youremailaddress@yourdomain.com
Under "Server Information":
Your incoming mail server is a POP3 and its name is:
mail.lanicom.net
Your outgoing mail server is:
mail.lanicom.net
Under "Logon Information":
Your "User Name" is the same as your "E-mail Address".
Your "Password" is the one that you specified for your account.

-
Click the "More
Settings" button. It will open a new window with the following
tabs across the top: "General", "Outgoing Server",
"Connection", and "Advanced". Click on the "Outgoing Server"
tab.
-
Select the box
beside "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication".
Next, click the radio button beside "Use the same settings as my
incoming mail server", then click on the "Advanced" tab.
-
*At the bottom
of this sheet, click the box beside "Leave a copy of messages on the
server". Then, click the box that says "Remove from server
when deleted from 'Deleted Items'".
*(This
step
is optional,
but is
very
useful
if you
ever
use our
webmail
feature.)

Click "OK".
-
Click "Next >" to continue.
-
When the next
window opens, click the "Finish" button in the bottom right
hand of the window.
Congratulations. You have
successfully setup Outlook to send and
receive emails with your LaniCom.NET
email account. If you are still
